Lodging Review Sentiment (Positive, Negative & Neutral) of Select US Cities by Quarter

Using the slider in the bottom left corner of the map, you may select a quarter, of which the points on the map can be hovered over with your cursor to show a tooltip containing information about the selected city. The information contained in the tooltip is the overall positive sentiment of reviews for the selected city during the selected quarter, followed by a visual of the total positive, negative, and neutral reviews. A similar chart is shown in the lower right corner of the map, displaying the overall sentiment of the United States as a whole during the selected quarter.




Total Review Count by Quarter of Select US Cities

Using the slider in the bottom left corner of the map, you may select a quarter, of which the points on the map can be hovered over with your cursor to show a tooltip containing information about the selected city. The information contained in the tooltip is the total amount of reviews for the selected city during the selected quarter. The radius of the point representing the city is sized linearly based on the total amount of reviews during the selected quarter. A legend is provided in the bottom right corner to allow one to "eyeball" the size of the point relative to the amount of reviews. Also, above the legend, a total of all the reviews in the United States is displayed for a selected quarter.




Top 5 Selected Words of Top 5 Topics by Quarter of Select US Cities

Using the slider in the bottom left corner of the map, you may select a quarter, of which the points on the map can be hovered over with your cursor to show a tooltip containing information about the selected city. The information contained in the tooltip is a word cloud generated from the LDA topic data created during analysis of all reviews. The words shown in the word cloud are the top 5 words from the top 5 topics created during the LDA analysis. Additionally, the larger the word the more important to topic, as well as color is used to combine words from the same topic. A key is provided in the lower right corner specifying which color is associated to which topic. The most important topic is at the top, while least import is at the bottom.
